Happy Trails

February 28, 2017

Happy Trails   11"x14"   watercolor and gouache on paper

These two exotic animals have been all over the world and while they wait for their next departure time, in between destinations, the sloth rests his head for a little nap, tired from all of the traveling. Meanwhile the llama is busy reading the newspaper and planning all of their new exciting travels. Clearly she has enough energy for the both of them.

It seems fitting to insert an excerpt from my favorite Frank Capra film: "Do you know what the three most exciting sounds in the world are? Anchor chains, airplane motors and train whistles." These two obviously feel the same.

The Rat and His River   14"x11"  gouache on paper

Ratty is perhaps my favorite Wind in the Willows character. He’s sweet, sensible, down to earth and content. All he needs is his boat and the river and he considers himself well-off.

“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” -Ratty of The Wind in the Willows (Kenneth Grahame)
